A lovely traditional, beautifully restored country hotel, built at the end of the 19th century. Situated off the road in the farming village of Herrerias de Valcarce on the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostela, it looks down onto fields, oak and chestnut trees and the river Valcarce, excellent for trout fishing. A very peaceful, unspoilt spot in the beautiful region of El Bierzo, at the foot of the Ancares Nature Park.

It makes an excellent base for exploring the sights of the area - Ponferrada and its castle, at one time belonging to the Order of the Knights of the Templar, and its magnificent walls, Villafranca del Bierzo, known as the small Compostela, boasting all sorts of treasures, Las Medulas, ancient Roman gold mines declared World Heritage, the monastery of Carracedo, the Valley of Silence and the Sierra Do Courel.

There is opportunity for trout fishing, horse- riding, cycling and for plenty of walking. Jorge, the owner will give you a very warm welcome and will make sure you have an enjoyable stay.
