In beautiful wooded countryside, close to cheese making Arzua, on the Camino between Lugo and Santiago, this impressive manor house in its delightful grounds with a pool and ancient oak and chestnut trees, was the favourite retreat of the illustrious writer, Valle Inclan.
Built in 1544 with its own chapel, and though recently converted into a hotel, you enter a family home full of history, with antiques, fascinating objects d'art, marble fireplaces and a distinct hunting lodge feel to it with many hunting trophies and an English style decor. You could forgive yourself by thinking you were in Scotland!
Luxurious, but not pretentious, its fifteen elegant, individually decorated bedrooms, various sitting rooms and English style dining rooms have a definite and unique P.G. Woodhouse atmosphere.
