This palace was originally a manor house that now showcases remnants of an impressive Roman villa dating back to the 1st century AD, which can be found under its restaurant. It is the only hotel that features indoor Roman baths and an outdoor swimming pool situated in a serene environment surrounded by fruit trees and aromatic plants.
To access the SPA, you will need to pass through the Patio de los Naranjos and the Mudéjar area of the hotel. Once you do so, you will arrive at the courtyard of our spa, which is bordered by Roman columns.
As capital of the vast Caliphate of Cordoba the city was Europe's most populous and also its greatest centre of learning. Prior to that Cordoba was chosen by the Romans as capital of Hispania Uterior. Understandable then that the whole central area is now declared a UNESCO World Heritage site!
The Great Mosque, the largest Islamic edifice in the western world, is undoubtedly the main attraction. Truly breathtaking in both style and scale, here you can see the passing of empires with vestiges of Visigothic and Moorish times as well as the stamp of the Reconquista in the form of the Renaissance cathedral nave built in the heart of the original Islamic mosque.
But there's plenty more besides; get lost in the labyrinth lanes of the Jewish Quarter and don't miss the beautiful patios literally festooned with potted geraniums. Visit the Roman walls and bridge or the archaeological remains at Medina Azahara
