Overview
Tucked inside the medieval city walls near the aqueduct, in the enchanting and fascinating city of Evora with its vast array of historical sights, this 16th century olive mill is now a delightful small, elegant and friendly hotel.
With well-appointed spacious, modern rooms, lovely sitting areas with just the right blend of antique and contemporary furniture, a pleasant garden patio and many original parts of the building still intact, it retains the charm of an old house.
Particularly endearing are its wonderful staff who will go out of their way to assist you, from organising a tour to one of the 50 wineries in the local region, giving great recommendations for days out or simply producing a pile of homemade pancakes at your whim! Nothing is too much for them.
The amazing breakfasts too, using locally sourced organic produce, from five different types of bread to free range eggs, are amongst the region's best.
From this quiet corner, it is an easy walk to all the mesmerising sights, little shops and tempting restaurants in the Évora.
The hotel is also very well placed for trips further afield in the beautiful region of the Alentejo - to the hilltop fortress towns of Monsaraz, Marvao and Castelo Vide, to the pottery towns of El Corval and Redondo, to the "marble towns" of Vila Viçosa and Estremoz, to Comporta for a day on the beach, to Arraiolos and its traditional carpets, to megaliths galore and to UNESCO World Heritage, Elvas, with the oldest British war cemetery from the Napoleonic Wars! You will find it hard to tear yourself away!
