HJAV1, Jávea, Valencia

Overview

Mi AlmaZara is a small adults-only boutique hotel in the countryside outside Jávea, designed around privacy, good food and a slower pace of stay. With just 14 rooms, extensive outdoor space and views towards the Montgó, it feels very different from the larger coastal hotels found elsewhere on the Costa Blanca.

The architecture and interiors have a restrained Mediterranean character, using white walls, stone, wood, cotton and esparto alongside olive and orange trees. The landscaped grounds include a swimming pool, gardens and quiet outdoor areas, while all rooms have private outside space and their own fireplace. Wellness is a significant part of the concept, with yoga and meditation sessions, massages and treatments, gong baths and other activities available.

Its setting also gives good access to Jávea, the Montgó Natural Park and the wider Marina Alta. A car is useful and free private parking makes the hotel straightforward for touring clients. The combination of peaceful surroundings, strong restaurant, thoughtful contemporary design and unusually spacious rooms makes Mi AlmaZara particularly suited to couples who want a quieter alternative to a conventional beach hotel.

Accommodation details

Mi AlmaZara has 14 rooms divided between four categories.

Essential comprises three rooms on the lower floor of the main building, measuring approximately 24–32 m². They have private terraces and convenient access to the swimming pool and restaurant.

There are eight Calm Soul Garden rooms, independent stone-built accommodation with private gardens and views towards the Montgó. Rooms measure approximately 29–35 m² and include both indoor and outdoor rain showers.

Two Romance Deluxe rooms provide considerably more space at around 43 m², with king-size beds, private gardens, indoor and outdoor showers and bathtubs.

The single Montgó Panoramic Rooftop room measures approximately 36 m² and is the most distinctive category, with elevated panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

All 14 rooms have fireplaces and private outdoor space. Standard facilities include private bathroom, minibar or mini fridge, safe, hairdryer and Wi-Fi.

Restaurant

The hotel restaurant specialises in Nikkei cooking, combining Japanese techniques with Peruvian flavours and locally sourced Mediterranean ingredients. Fresh fish, marinated dishes, tempura, wok cooking and seasonal produce form the basis of the style.

The kitchen is led by Chilean chef Eduardo Acuña, whose background includes experience in Peruvian and Nikkei cooking. The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner and is designed as a destination in its own right rather than simply providing a basic hotel dining service.

Breakfast is served at the hotel and focuses on local produce, with buffet options including fruit, cheeses and other sweet and savoury items. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free breakfast options are available.

Jávea Valencia

Jávea, also known as Xàbia, is a beautiful coastal town on the northern Costa Blanca, set between the slopes of the Montgó massif and the Mediterranean Sea. With its historic old town, attractive beaches and rocky coves, it combines a traditional Valencian character with a relaxed seaside atmosphere.

The old town is built slightly inland, with narrow streets, elegant stone houses and the impressive Gothic church of San Bartolomé at its centre. Down by the coast, the port and fishing quarter provide a livelier contrast, with plenty of bars and restaurants, while the surrounding coastline offers some of the most attractive scenery in the area.

Jávea is also an excellent base for exploring the Marina Alta, with its dramatic cliffs, secluded coves and scenic walking routes, as well as nearby villages and the Montgó Natural Park.

  • Explore the Montgó Natural Park: Hike through the rugged landscape of the Montgó massif for spectacular views over the Mediterranean and surrounding countryside.
  • Visit the Old Town: Wander through the atmospheric streets and discover the Gothic church of San Bartolomé, historic buildings and traditional stone architecture.
  • Discover the coastline: Explore beautiful coves such as Granadella, Portitxol and Ambolo, with crystal-clear waters and dramatic rocky scenery.
  • Explore the Port and Marina: Enjoy the fishing harbour, waterfront promenade, seafood restaurants and lively atmosphere.
  • Walk along the Cap de Sant Antoni: Follow coastal paths around this spectacular headland for panoramic views towards Jávea and the surrounding coastline.
  • Visit the Cabo de la Nao: Drive to the easternmost point of the area and enjoy impressive sea views from the lighthouse and surrounding cliffs.
  • Water Sports: Kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and snorkelling are all popular ways to explore Jávea's clear Mediterranean waters.
  • Explore the Marina Alta: Take trips inland to discover traditional villages, vineyards, valleys and the dramatic mountain scenery of Alicante's northern interior.
