HMUX1, Muxia, North Spain
Overview
The stunning 4-star Parador de Costa de la Muerte is the latest of Spain's Paradors and represents a dramatic break with tradition. In stark contrast to its surroundings the hotel is ultra-modern yet is thoughtfully designed to respect the setting and to blend with the lie of the land, sitting on a series of terraces set into the hillside.
The interior of the hotel integrates harmoniously with the setting and makes the very most of the breath-taking views of the bay with its cliffs and stunning beach - with views from every room as well as the infinity pool and modern spa.
The decoration is inspired by organic shapes, stones and vegetation using simple décor and clean lines transmitting tranquillity with materials carefully selected to respect the neutral, yet warm tones of the architecture.
Set on Playa Lourido, a stone's throw from Muxia and very close to Cap Fisterra, so named by the Romans who considered it "the world's end", end of the extended version of the Camino de Santiago (where, tradition dictates, weary pilgrims throw their boots into the sea) this is the ideal base to get away from it all in one of the wildest and least-spoiled corners of Spain.

Muxia North Spain
Set at the mouth of the Ria de Camariñas just a short distance from Cap Fisterra, so named by the Romans who considered it “the world’s end”, Muxia is an active fishing port and the essence of the Costa de la Muerte, end of the road for many a ship.
If 'coast of death' and ‘end of the world' don’t sound too inviting please don’t be put off – this rugged corner of northern Spain is full of delights – white sandy beaches, stunning countryside and truly delicious food from the land and sea.
Here, you are in traditional, rural Galicia, an area still dedicated to farming, fishing and lace-making. An area where the pace is still refreshingly slow.
The small, charming fishing ports Camariñas and Camelle and the beautiful Playa de Carnota with the world's longest horreo (traditional grainstore) are just nearby as is Cap Fisterra and Monte Pindo, the Celtic Olympus.
