Overview

This small, boutique-style hotel is simple yet stylish and offers the very best in local gastronomy. Clean lines and whitewashed walls give the hotel a very relaxing feel and the shady patio and pool area offer the perfect retreat from the Mediterranean heat. There's a nice terrace cafe by the pool, a gym for guests' use and personal training, massage and bike rental services are available. The restaurant is renowned in the area for its rice, duck and seafood, traditional dishes using local ingredients but prepared and presented in a thoroughly modern way. And the breakfast buffet, with homemade cakes and pastries and fresh produce, is dangerously good! Set between the Laguna and the sea, both teeming with bird life, the hotel is ideally situated for walking, cycling and birdwatching and makes a great base to discover the lesser known wonders of the Terres de l'Ebre from Tortosa to the Terra Alta.

Poblenou del Delta Catalonia

One of the few villages set in the Delta del Ebro proper Poblenou was created in the 1950s as a home for the rice farmers and fishermen. With its low-rise white washed buildings and its spectacular setting between the Laguna and the sea, the town has a real holiday feel about it and makes a perfect base to discover the delta and the lands of the lower Ebro river. Particularly popular with birdwatchers, the local area is perfect for cycling or walking along the tracks between the rice paddies and the beaches on the mediterranean shore close by are really quite unspoilt. Nearby Tortosa, guarding the entry to the mighty Ebro river has a historical heritage dating back to Roman times and beyond and the mountains of the Terra Alta, within easy reach, are also spectacular. The gastronomy of the area - combining delta rice with local seafood and produce direct from the mountains - is simply delicious and the local wines certainly don't disappoint!
