Overview
This small, charming, perfectly preserved historic Art-Nouveau hotel sits in an enviable position right on the front by the beach, overlooking the lovely shell-shaped bay in the pleasant seaside town of S??o Martinho do Porto, on the Silver Coast in central Portugal.
Formerly the home of sea captain Jaime Pinto, it brims with old world charm and character, but though taking you back in time, modern comforts are not forgotten.
The bedrooms, some with sea views, are individually decorated and furnished, with many of the original features still intact - one even has a secret passage!
With two sun terraces, a lounge terrace and a tea room which even serves scones, the hotel is a great place to chill out and forget modern pressures.
S??o Martinho, though bustling in the summer months, is a nicely laid back, friendly town with its fair share of bars, restaurants and little shops and even an elevator which takes you up to the upper town.
You will probably just be happy to stroll along the front watching the locals harvesting seaweed, but if it's culture you are looking for, the historical towns of Alcoba??a, Batalha, Tomar and ?"bidos and picturesque Nazar? are all within easy reach.
