Housed in a grand building in the Aragonese style on the edge of the medieval gem Sos del Rey Catolico with dramatic views over the landscape which bring home the strategic importance of the town in days gone by.
The Parador's decor is traditional with Castilian-style furnishings and stone columns in keeping with the setting. Rooms are light and spacious thanks to the large windows and some have balconies from which to soak in the stunning views.
The restaurant offers traditional specialities from the Cinco Villas district, the region that lends the restaurant its name, and has a wonderful terrace.
The town, which has been declared of artistic and historical importance, is most famous as the birthplace of Ferdinand, the Catholic King, but was of considerable strategic importance throughout the middle ages. Right up to the unification of Spain, since which time it remains virtually untouched.

Sos del Rey Católico Spanish Pyrenees and Catalunya
Birthplace of Ferdinand II of Aragon - the Catholic King who went on, with Isabela of Castilla, to unite Spain, complete the Reconquista and sponsor Columbus' voyages in the 15th century - Sos was previously a strategic fort on the borders between constantly warring Castilla and Aragón.
Since the early 18th century the town has enjoyed special royal privileges granted by the Phillip V to the 'Cinco Villas', five local towns: Sos, Uncastillo, Tauste, Ejea de los Caballeros and Sádaba - all of which are exquisitely preserved examples of medieval art and architecture.
Nearby the gorges of Lumbiers and Arbayun in the Pyrenean foothills and the semi-desert of Las Bardenas Reales make this a wonderful base for nature lovers too.
12th century Romanesque treasures of Uncastillo.
Las Bardenas Reales Biosphere Reserve - spectacular by car, on foot or mountain bike.
