Walk out of the door of this lovingly restored 18th century town house and step straight back in time into 12th century medieval Uncastillo, Spain's finest Romanesque site. Here you'll find no 'Old Town' just a living museum, untouched by the passing of time.
Near the once-strategic border of Navarre and Aragon the local area boasts an architectural heritage of immense importance, including the castles of Javier, Olite and the colossal Loarre - Europe's best preserved Romanesque castle - as well as nearby Sos, birthplace of Fernando, the Catholic King.
The hotel itself is simple yet charming and makes the most of the original building elements such as natural stone and wooden beams without compromising clients' comfort in any way.
A big part of the attraction here are the hosts themselves who not only are very charming and knowledgeable about the local area but can arrange all manner of activities from biking or trekking in Las Bardenas to guided walks of the local historical sites and all manner of outdoor activities.

Uncastillo Spanish Pyrenees and Catalunya
Recognised as the best kept 12th century Romanesque town in the whole of Spain, Uncastillo really is untouched by the passage of time.
Its once-important position, close to the border with Navarra, was rendered insignificant by the unification of Spain and the town has remained virtually unchanged ever since.
The natural environs also remain quite untouched and wild making it a superb base for all types of outdoor activities from biking and trekking to bird-watching, canoeing... you name it!
Just nearby is one of the main entrances to the Biosphere Reserve of Las Bardenas Reales, a semi-desert landscape with Spaghetti Western formations - soon to be set of Game of Thrones - with Olite and the Navarran wine country just beyond.
