This C18th textile mill is located on a meander of the river Umia, in the most stunning and dreamy natural surroundings, near the Roman spa town of Caldas de Reis. It has been meticulously restored and converted into a gem of a hotel.
A fantastic oasis of peace where you can enjoy its extensive, beautiful gardens, including a wonderful natural swimming pool with its own waterfall. The outdoor area has many carefully thought out sitting areas, where the constant sound of running water will lull you into a pleasant trance.
The traditional, country home with ten luxurious bedrooms which overlook the gardens and river, is elegantly furnished with antiques and impeccably decorated. While maintaining its original features, it does not forget modern comforts. Your enjoyment of the ambience, both inside and out, is always in mind, aided by the lovely and always attentive staff.
The restaurant serves a delicious buffet breakfast and dinner and also provides snacks and tapas and drinks throughout the day, so if you choose to stay put and read and relax or go for a gentle stroll in the grounds, it is all there for you.
Equidistant from the historical cities of Santiago de Compostela and Vigo and nearer to Pontevedra, the superb beaches of the Rias Baixas are within an easy drive and just locally there are plenty of Roman bridges, Romanesque churches, other spa towns and magnificent waterfalls to discover.

There are ten, beautifully and individually decorated and furnished, luxurious, double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Stone walls, beamed ceilings and polished wooden floors with antique furniture. All of them have splendid views of the river Umia and the delightful gardens.
The rooms have a T.V., a desk, a hairdryer and bathrobes and slippers.

The hotel has an elegant dining room where a delicious, buffet breakfast is served (mostly local produce, including homemade cakes and pastries and free range eggs).
Dinners are also served here and snacks and drinks are available throughout the day. Best to book dinners in advance.
There are several good restaurants and bars in Caldas de Reis at two kilometres. Ask the hotel staff for recommendations.

Caldas de Reis, North Spain
Caldas de Reis, on the Camino Portugues, twelve kilometres inland from the coast at Vilagarcia de Arousa, in the Rias Baixas, is an old spa town, founded by the Romans.
With a lovely Alameda and botanical gardens, some good restaurants and bars, it is said that if you drink the waters here, you will be married within a year!
On the outskirts of the town, the "Fervenza de Segade" with its impressive waterfalls and pools, can be reached by a pleasant walk along the river Umia.
Roman bridges and Romanesque churches dot the surrounding area and other nearby spa towns, such as Cuntis, are well worth a visit.
The C18th stately home, Pazo de Oca, with its fantastic gardens, is not far away and even nearer is Morana, with its pilgrimage centre, El Santuario dos Milagres de Amil.
- Popular and traditional fiestas are held here including the "Rapa das bestas" (branding of the wild horses), "The Milagros de Amil" and "Porquino a Brasa" (roast pig) and "Carneiro ao espeto" (whole lamb on a spit). Here you will see Galicia at its purest. Fabulous beaches of the Rias Baixas. The nearest are at Vilagarcia de Arousa and Rianxo.
- Local walks, taking in fantastic waterfalls – The Fervenza de Segade, takes just 10 minutes.
- Treat yourself to a thermal bath at one of the nearby spas at Caldas de Reis and Cuntis.
- Visit the fantastic stately home "Pazo de Oca" near A Estrada.
- Explore the Albariño wine region with its charming "capital", Cambados.
- Visit the lovely old spa towns of Caldas de Reis and Cuntis and the town and port of Rianxo, all a short drive away.
- Visit nearby Padron, home to Galicia's greatest poetess, Rosalia de Castro and Nobel prize winner, Camilo Jose Cela. Sample the famous peppers from there – carefully!
- Don't miss ancient Combarro, one of Galicia's most picturesque seaside towns.
- Be in magical Santiago de Compostela and delightful Pontevedra in half an hour.
- Walking – Monte Beiro, Monte Xiabre, Muiños de Catoira, Monte A Curota (with views to Islas Cíes)…
- Head to the dreamy fishing port of Corrubedo and its amazing sand dunes.
- Golf – there are four challenging golf courses within an hour's drive.
- Rafting, canoeing, climbing and other adventure sports.
